This event brings together volunteers from across our community to remove trash from coastlines and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our marine ecosystems.
During our cleanup activities, team members and community volunteers work side by side, collecting litter, documenting waste, and promoting sustainable practices. We believe that every piece of trash removed not only beautifies our beaches but also protects marine wildlife and contributes to healthier oceans.
Saint Lucia Cruise Port (SLCP) on Friday, August 7th, announced the implementation of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, a global initiative designed to improve accessibility and inclusivity for travelers with non-visible disabilities. Through this program, passengers who choose to wear a sunflower lanyard or pin can discreetly signal that they may require additional support, assistance, extra time, or understanding while navigating the port.
Lancelot Arnold, General Manager of Saint Lucia Cruise Port, said: "Saint Lucia Cruise Port is dedicated to delivering world-class service through our cruise tourism product, and that can only be achieved by creating an inclusive environment for all passengers who visit our shores. We hope that our involvement in this initiative not only remains at the port level but is embraced across our society. We will champion this cause and work to foster an inclusive environment for everyone across the tourism sector."
In preparation for the 2026/2027 cruise season, SLCP will roll out the program through comprehensive training for port-related agencies and the installation of signage at all berths to raise awareness among staff and passengers alike. Through these efforts, SLCP and supporting agencies will be better equipped to serve all visitors, further ensuring passengers feel welcomed and valued.
